Nehemiah Village

The mission of Nehemiah Village is to be a resource of possibilities and transformation for formerly-incarcerated men, helping to return and restore them to our communities.

Help build Nehemiah Village from the ground up. Become a founding partner today.

NEHEMIAH VILLAGE

POSSIBILITIES. TRANSFORMATION. RESTORATION.

THE CHALLENGE

Across the U.S., nearly 70% of formerly incarcerated individuals are rearrested within three years of release because most return to the same conditions they left—unstable housing, limited job opportunities, and little support to rebuild their lives. But the deeper challenge is internal: many men carry trauma and beliefs about themselves that tell them change isn’t possible.

THE SOLUTION

Nehemiah Village will bring a proven reentry model to Wichita—one that has reduced recidivism to as low as 5% over nine years.

  • Safe, structured communal housing
  • Employment assistance and job readiness
  • Education and practical life-skills training
  • Mentorship, counseling, and spiritual guidance
  • A brotherhood built on accountability and encouragement

Each home will house ten residents alongside dedicated program leaders who provide daily mentorship and accountability.

Located in the 67214 community, Nehemiah Village will complement broader efforts by Wichita State University, the City of Wichita, and federal partners.

HERE IS WHAT WE PLAN TO BUILD. WILL YOU JOIN US?

Let’s build Nehemiah Village. We need $5 million to launch the first phase of housing. Become a founding partner.

THE CHALLENGES ARE REAL

NEHEMIAH VILLAGE IS THE SOLUTION

The challenges that the men in this video have faced are being faced by men returning to their community right here in Wichita. Learn more about our powerful re-entry program that reduces recidivism by 95%, and creates restoration & transformation, by meeting these challenges head on.

Unstable Housing Increases Risks
Being homeless, unstably housed, or living in a high crime neighborhood all heighten an individual’s risk of reoffending.
Incarceration & Unemployment
On average, formerly incarcerated people are unemployed at a rate of 27 percent, according to research by the Prison Policy Institute.
Education & Reentry
While incarcerated, and even after release from prison, we find that people rarely get the chance to make up for the educational opportunities from which they’ve been excluded — opportunities that impact their chances of reentry success.
